What is Melanotan II?
Melanotan is an analog of the peptide a-MSH hormone that cause a tanning/darkening effect in the skin. It was inadvertently developed at the University of Arizona during research into skin cancer.

Melanotan works by stimulating the body’s naturally occurring alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH), causing Melanogenesis, a process where melanocytes (tanning cells in the skin) produce melanin (pigment).

Numerous trials and testing have proved Melanotan to be safe and 1,000 times more potent than natural a-MSH. Studies have shown that administering this hormone is an effective and safe alternative to tanning by UV exposure without any previously documented severe side effects.

How much Melanotan II should be used?
In most studies favorable results have been shown with dosages around 500mcg or 5mcg/kg per day or every other day with the dosage split 1/2 30 minutes prior to tanning and the other 1/2 immediately after tanning for the first week.

After the first week a maintenance dose of 500mcg or 5mcg/kg was used 1-3 times a week with the dosage split 1/2 30 minutes prior to tanning and the other 1/2 immediately after tanning.

The amount of time normally spent during a tanning session was typically reduced in 1/2 at first until it is known how skin will react to the ultra violet light exposure. Results usually appeared 2-3 days later.

Tanning is not required in order for this peptide to work. Tanning increases the effects of this peptide.

Melanotan II can be used any time of the day.

How to reconstitute Melanotan II?
Melanotan II is typically manufactured in 10mg amounts and is reconstituted with sterile water.
– If 2ml (2 full – 1 ml U-100 insulin syringe) of sterile water is added to the vial then each unit of the syringe will equal 50 mcg.
– If the syringe is filled up to 10 units (up to the number 10 on the syringe) it will equal 500 mcg of Melanotan II.

How long should Melanotan II be used?
In most studies no adverse side effects were reported with continuous use (per the dosage limits in the above). The most common side effects were nausea, dark spots and/or increased libido which subsided with a decrease in dosage or stoppage of use.
